Campaign 3 Session 62
Arriving in Port Coradol, the party encounters new people and new problems.
Summary
All of the kids aboard the airship are spoiled rotten by the members of the Fourth Act, with Val and Kiera train with Talthis and Vostra in their spare time. Ward determines that the portal spell he is working on will need something clear without impurity, reflective, and stable as a material component, which will be consumed; Leonora suggests a high-quality diamond lense as a potential.
Evening on the 19th, the Fourth Act arrive in Port Coradol. They intend to spend the next two days and three nights in town, leaving the morning of the 22nd. The Platinum Emergence is being celebrated, celebrating the day the previous Bahamut ascended; the date is so ingrained that it is used for the current Bahamut as well. Everyone decides to take the night to join the celebrations. Everyone successfully has a pleasant night, including convincing Talthis to party as well.
The next morning, the party, Talthis, Val, and Kiera head off to the East adventurer's guild to try to set up a job to rescue those remaining in Auguste. The attendant, a blue-green triton male, pink hair, with one starfish-shaped coral earring named Teluron helps them. Ward explains the situation. Teluron explains that it will take a few weeks to be approved by the council, but there is someone who frequents the West branch who fancies themself a zombie hunter. He has never accepted payment for a job, but also hasn't done any rescue missions. Talthis offers as payment the location of the Tomb of Kal'kadun, a tomb of gold wherein a minor demon lord has been potentially locked within it. A tall owlkin with pale eyes wearing fine dark robes and silver sash intercepts Talthis, overhearing his offer. He offers to essentially purchase the location from Talthis so he can put up the reward for the job immediately; Talthis requests some time to think about it. Once Eoghin departs, the location of his shop shared, the group questions the staff about him, learning that he is on the city council in the Sixth Seat, Kraith the Betrayer's seat. Because they are leaving town soon, and Eoghin seems to be reasonably trustworthy, if spooky, the party believes his offer to be in good faith, ultimately leaving the decision up to Talthis.
Vera, Ward, Dorean, and Eck go by the glassware shop of Yvera Costa, the owner of the bag Vera accidentally acquired during the party the night before. Ward commissions a lens for his research into his spell for traveling across shards. Mira and Luna go about town inquiring about Eoghin, finding that most people have a generally positive view of him. Those who don't can't give a particularly good reason for their distrust beyond him sitting in the Sixth Seat. Once their tasks are finished, the group meets at a house in town, marked by a job listing as haunted and needing investigation. Outside, they encounter a middle-aged man with groceries who tells them about the house. The master of the house, Ian Ekelvieh, got on someone's bad side, who then cursed them and the other inhabitants. He tells them to come back after dark, as the door will be unlocked then. Previous groups have been unsuccessful, fleeing in fear while not solving the problem. Ward comes to the conclusion that they are some sort of actors, convincing Vera and Mira of this, while the others are certain the house is actually cursed. The group waits for nightfall to begin their adventure.
