In angry silence, the party, Talthis, Alibi, and Greyson engage in combat with Fulkin in the firey remains of the stage. In a risky battle, they are able to barely defeat Fulkin. Refusing to go down without taking them with him, he absorbs the sphere of fire he had with him, attempts to explode himself along with the airship. Greyson drags Fulkin off the edge of the ship and far enough away that when Fulkin explodes, the airship is safe, but at the cost of his own life. Mira follows after the bodies, Ward and Luna following after. After an unsuccessful search for Fulkin in mist form, Vera joins the rest of the airship crew, putting out fires, finding survivors, and healing the injured. The fire is put out and triage begins.

Dorean checks on Invicta, giving her a kiss, and then goes off to help take care of any physical labor she can help with; Invicta shadows her, shaken up and wanting to stay near Dorean. Luna similarly helps move things as she can. Eck is used to search small areas on the ship, looking for survivors, supplies, and bodies. Ward helps Talthis moving bodies, arranging them and taking note of who has been lost; they are specifically not performing last rites. Vera helps the injured before checking on Alibi, who is not doing well all things considered; Alibi, Vera, and Sapphire ultimately end up sitting together in a comfort pile somewhere.

Struggling to process her emotions about the events of the night, Mira wanders away from the airship for some peace. Dr. Hayward approaches her. He tells her to pass along the information that details pertaining to Dorean's family has been scrubbed from the databases the Shady Mothers have on her. He knows still, but he doesn't like that sort of style. He plans to simply report that Fulkin stepped outside the bounds of reason in his retaliation against the group, putting the organization in danger. He is doing them this favor because they are actually helping him with his research by trying to dismantle it, testing his experiments and projects. The Calamity War prompted experiments that resulted in the creation of many creatures, such as the dragonborn. Hayward wants to see how far things can be pushed, and he wants to guide it. He offers Mira the teleportation sigil for where Omega is being kept, inviting them to visit and see the world he wishes to create, but cautions that Omega is far more powerful than Fulkin was. But it was also a failed project, so the combat data from them destroying it would be interesting to him. He departs, assuring Mira that he will not pursue them actively, but so long as Dorean lives, their paths will probably cross again.

One morning, emerging from the trees, are Teer, Akaros, and Shepherd, along with a large group of elves with help.
