Porcini, a gnome, is in her garden working on the deadliest pestiside possible when rubble and a huge crystal land on her storefront, garden, and house. Vera, Eck, and Liscena arrive shortly after, investigating the situation. Porcini, distraught at the loss of everything, demands to know who is going to pay for repairs. The Crystal shatters, injuring her. A tall, white, gaunt creature emerges from the crystal—sweeping horns, pale eyes, noseless face—and attacks the group immediately.

Mira and Talthis land in an underground river, swept along for a fair distance until they are able to reach a shore. They are in a cavern filled with fungal life. One of Mira's werewolf friends from the moon, Leonora, contacts her, saying that whatever just happened, the triangulation they were doing is stronger now. Talthis explains that they are in or very near the Underdark, which Leonora remarks makes sense as they hadn't thought to look underground. She provides a map to guide them to the location she is looking for. The transmission ends, and the pair heads off in search of the dot on Mira's map. Along the way, they encounter a hook horror nest. As they deal with them, a metallic roar comes from the depths, and somethign approaches, scattering the hook horrors. Someone wearing yellow dragon armor emerges—one of Mira's parents' comrades, Uncle Greyson. A shard is near where he has been living. Yugire, hunting Mira, still looking for her and is trying to make a transdimensional warp gate to find her. He also comments that home's atmosphere was poison. He also observes that Green and Blue didn't make it; Yugire is Red. Casey is alive, surprising Mira; she joined some pirates to resist Logire.

Ward attempts to contact the separated members, but there is some sort of interference. He is able to contact the airship and request the skybike be brought to them. As Dorean and Merely go to meet them half-way, Alibi calls them in a panic, telling htem to get outside quickly. She meets Dorean and Merely with a two-headed dragon chasing her. It says that the Shady Motherfuckers have been annoying, and decides that this group here would be a good snack. Dorean, still powered by Wrath from the previous fight, and Merely hack away at them swiftly, with Alibi killing it as it attempts to escape.

Taking the skybike down, Dorean discovers that the tunnels down have been blocked, but she is able to contact Eck and Vera using the badges now. They potentially have a way to the surface through town, but have no idea where Mira and Talthis are. Unable to do more, Dorean tells them that Alibi stole the kill on the dragon, then heads back up. Ward casts Sending to contact Talthis, being told that they have someone with them, and that they'll likely come up somewhere to the west. Before they leave to try to pick up their friends, Ward locates a recorded message from the Director. She says they need to know how the serum works—refined blood from Dorean. Shards are different realities; the serums allow people to tap into the other "yous" and access greater potential. She cautions that it is dangerous and will mess you up. She says to tell her brother that he was right; he will find them, so worrying about that part isn't important. Unable to assist their friends, the group returns to the airship to rest and worry.

After assisting search for Porcini's grandmother's ashes and propagating some starter plants from the remains of her shed, the group travels to the nearby settlement. There they encounter Vinorel, an ilithid and leader of the settlement. He only allows them to leave if they grant permission to have their knowledge of the settlement erased from their memories. The group agrees, and find themselves in a cavern without knowledge of what happened between Porcini telling them she knew of a way up and finding themselves them. Meanwhile, Mira and Talthis enter a cavern near the surface that seems to be the dragon's lair. Talthis calls the party, and everyone gives a quick update on their group's activities. They meet up at the dragon hoard to catch up and loot.
