Campaign 3 Session 4

The party descends beneath the tombs of the ghostly knights to deal with the SMF.

Summary

Easily dealing with the strike squad sent to deal with them, the party descends the elevator. They enter a hallways, sending Henrietta forward to investigate ahead of them. A short, squat scientist trips over her and is swiftly captured by the party. He explains that they primarily work with weapons and a serum. He is in charge when the normal director is here—which she currently isn't. He calls off the guards for now and leads the group through the area. He directs them to a lift which would take them to the administrative wing, but they decide that smells like a trap—indeed, it is labeled as "holding cells." They then go to a Gate Room, something like a permanent gate spell with several locations preprogrammed; Ward shuts this down such that nobody else will be able to use it right now. He also notes that one of the locations is labeled Omega, which Ward asks about. Dr. Coral mockingly explains that it's a pet project of Dr. Hayward's that he describes as "'the ultimate expression of the ingenuity of something something.' It's a big obnoxious creature." He is attempting to create an ultimate psion; Coral says that it might have worked. Delta site was the location in Kitheroc, while Epsilon was the island temple location. When asked, Coral explains that he believes that the work that they are doing with Fulkan can make the world a better place; they are working with raw possibility itself.

Upon entering the foundry, they find that the arcbound forge from the mission they met on has been moved and rebuilt here. As Merely, joined by Vera, set about destroying items in the room, Dr. Coral gives up and calls the director in and disappears. The director arrives in short order, displays her knowledge of the group, and asks what happens next. She doesn't particularly care for how Hayward and Fulkin go about doing their testing, preferring instead volunteers. Ward says that the way they do their testing is quite different than building a simple sword. She opens the foundry to show the weapons they have created thus far. She and Ward discuss the merits of her methods over some other methods, whether the two sides truly wish to fight right now. The director activates all of the constructs from the weaponry and then casts Power Word Kill on Dorean, killing her instantly.
