Campaign 3 Session 78
The party passes time in Oceanside.
Summary
Fairy greets Ward and Margaux and takes them to a seat. Margaux tells her that the two are celebrating their fifth anniversary, and the two settle down to watch for anyone who could be Luna's mother. After an aftenroon of unsuccessful watching and too many beers, the pair depart. Having been unable to locate Lyra or the fake Luna, the rest of the group goes about searching the old-fashioned way. They are able to determine that Lyra has an apartment above Hob's House, and begin a stake-out to watch for the two. The other Luna enters, presumably using an indoor access to reach the apartment. Vera wild shapes into a bat to look in the windows, finding Luna and Lyra having a conversatsion surrounded by packing disarray. The other Luna leaves shortly, and Luna knocks on the door.
Lyra isn't too surprised to see Luna—her Luna. The other Luna is the Luna from this shard. She had lost her parents, though no love was lost between them. Lyra has finished paying off the debts Meneldin left her with, and she and Luna are moving into a larger place not above their place of employment. Lyra expresses annoyance that Luna didn't show up in the last six years; Luna explains that she tried to contact her, but was unsuccessful, having to stomach a job with Meneldin to find out she was in Oceanside. Lyra says everything Meneldin touches is poison, including Luna and Lyra herself. Even so, if Luna wishes to try to remain in contact, Lyra welcomes it. As Luna leaves, Lyra can be heard choking back a sob as she shuts the door. Outside, it begins to rain; luckily Shepherd is there to block it for Luna.
The group argues about what to name the group; Ward doesn't like the name Stargazers, but nobody likes the name Shards of Elpis.
Dorean does some pit fighting, winning a fair bit of money. Mira also does some pit fighting, as does Vera. Luna spends the rest of the downtime training with Shepherd.
Eck searches out the local dragon-kin community. They are directed to the Lower Fang, stacks of dwellings simulating high canyon walls. In the Shining Scale, they find Arkady, a grizzled white-scaled dragonborn with a deep scar over one eye. The old adventurer welcomes them. He tells them the history of Oceanside, that it was formed with dragon-kin at its core. In the wake of the Calamity, people fought to free and found safe places to live. The Scalefolk joined the others in the area against their would-be masters, the Scale Lords, in order to found what would become Oceanside. Arkady himself is decended from Archaesos, said to have slain Kologhan. Arkady does not have much new information regarding Schvargosa or the Dragon Monks, though he is familiar with Schvargosa, a demon among Scale Lords. He appeared during the early days of the Eighth Conflict, once of Tiamat's consorts. He was laid low by someone within their ranks, which is new, but not surprising information. The one who defeated Schvargosa disappeared shortly after, Arkady observing that he has found no records on them beyond that. Conversation turns elsewhere, and Eck and Mira enjoy the evening with drinks and a bard singing old draconic songs.
