Campaign 3 Session 67

The party begins their attempt to escape the ship of Casitus Jerrick.
Summary

Hullbreach is a very small town, a small number of people moving about wood and roap paths between remains of wrecked ships. Two people sit nearby, talking quietly by a fire. One is a frog person—Cokkird—and the other an orc—Gri—eating a large, ugly-looking black fish. They welcome the group to wet purgatory. They explain that Casitus keeps everyone alive until he makes them part of his undead crew. They explain that going up or out gets you caught by the swarms of creatures. They caution against mentioning that the party is part of Cecily's current crew, as her previous crew was left behind during her solo escape—she stole Casitus' heart from the dungeon beneath his spire and bargained her way out, leaving everyone else behind, angering most of them. They recommend going to Dihada's Parlour, as Dihada finds the whole situation funny, but has also been there the longest.

Dihada's Parlour is a ship with the appearance of a casino, and inside looks much the same with booze, gambling, and sex abounding. Upstairs they find Dihada, who tells them what they can about the spire and the dungeon beneath. The realm is one of the primarl fears, located on the edge of Nightmares. Engendering hope weakens fear's hold, though they refuse to expound upon which fear exactly. Ward recognizes that the primal fears are entities akin to minor gods or feylords. He further considers a plan that would involve enticing a nightmare to them, using that to take them into the nightmare realm, and from there to the Feywild and then the Material Plane. Their other option is to participate in the Pit and attempt to rally the inhabitants of Hullbreach behind them, instilling hope enough that Casitus' powers will be weakened such that he can be defeated.

First, they decide to visit Uncounted Shadows, a shop recommended by Dihada. They locate an anglerfish styled ship, a surprisingly in-tact ship, one of the few in Hullbreach. Uncounted Shadows is an owlkin like a barn owl, and offers the party some of her wares. The party ultimately purchases the Testament Scope from her, a spyglass that allows them to view someone's last moments—before a disasterous event, as people can't properly die in this place.
