Campaign 3 Session 26
The party completes their errands in Kitheroc before heading to the dragon temple.Summary
Luna requests she and Eck swap rooms for the night, which Eck readily agrees to. Once they are gone, Luna requests that she and Mira have sex.
The next morning, Luna is woken by Beryn in disguise. She hands over the key to Meneldin's journal, declairing their business concluded and to not contact her again, then leaves. Once she has taken some time to get ready for the day, Luna opens the journal. It is primarily a ledger regarding expenses and payments, including notes abouit his activities that prove him to be a turd of a man. Also in the notes are that he paid for the enaxeification of Bozja, so Bazan actually owed nothing to the lich. There was also a note about a man with gauntlets who they encountered in a ruin who saved their hides. It also includes the information about the sales of Luna's sister and mother, including the name of the man who purchased her mother, Holgrim Talashtar.
Ward and Dorean attempt to experiment with the weapons they took from the SMF members. They appear to be fabricated from shard stuff, but are not themselves shattered. The material is contained and held together with a mithril latice such that removal and damaging of the mithril would likely cause the weapons to cease to function, perhaps even calamitously. Dorean explains that she wants to attempt to do to the weapons what Merely did to the shard wall. After some discussion, they decide that perhaps attempting such a thing in a highly populated and busy part of town is a bad place to attempt such an experiment.
Stopping by the Adventurer's Guild, Vera and Luna are not able to gather much information about Gavin, due to being local and not needing most of the resources available there. They head to Meander's, where they retrieve the money that Gavin had left the day before, update Meander on Gavin's status, and to gt directions to Grumpo's Gumbo, a restaraunt Meander suggests for delivering meals. At Grumpo's Gumbo, they set up a week of delivery to Gavin.
Mira and Eck head to Professor Abernathy to let him know that they will be ready to go the following day. They find that his door is wide open, leading them to enter in concern. They find him asleep under his kitchen table, face in a bowl of cereal. Next to him is a scroll relating to leylines and how dragons affect them and are affected by them. They woke him and let him know that they would leave the next day. An earthquake accompanied by a bright beam of light revealed the temple site. Adventurers had found it to not have any interest in it, and Abernathy had been lacking funds, so he is excited to go. They discuss how strange it is that there is a dragon temple to be located in the area and that it is empty. Abernathy contemplates the potential dragons that might have once dwelled there. Solicitor Gilgrim arrives, prompting Abernathy to hide and request that they convince him that Abernathy isn't there. He fails in his escape, however, so Gilgrim confronts him about his owed payments on the house. He offers to stall for one more week, but Abernathy will have to make a 5000gp payment in that time, or else he will have to move out.
The library in Kitheroc is not well-maintained, books scattered and placed wherever they happened to end up. A few people are present, reading in various places. A harried thri-kreen is working the counter. Ward begins searching, figuring out the vibes-based organization system, and locates the section that has pictures of the moons on the front covers. One tome recounts the experiences of an artificer looking to make a clock out of lunar silver, and how he was able to acquire imbued lunar silver through bargaining with the werewolves on the moon. The tome ends with the recitation needed to perform the ritual, but it is in a script utterly alien to Ward. Mira recognizes it, but is unwilling to speak, nor does she understand it to properly translate it anyway. Using Comprehend Languages, Ward is able to figure out that the ritual listed is one for making contact, as a cleric might have done. It reqiures 200gp of magic chalks and unimbued lunar silver during a full moon. Vera, worried about ensuring her friends stay alive, finds a book about field medicine. The party discusses Abernathy's debts and their chances of heling with that.
Vera's raven visits. He observes that Vera is not used to endings. He assures her that though there will be more sad days in the future, there will be many more light-hearted days as well. He then awkwardly offers to allow her to cuddle him.
Ward transcribes and casts Sending in attempt to contact Armin: "It's Ward, we all made it back alright. Meneldin is dead. Are you alright, and do you need any help?" He responds, "Glad you're safe. Currently at the bottom of the ocean. On my way back. He will not be missed." He also Sends to Eliard: "Are you making to weapons testing facilities now? It's still the same game, you just don't have to look anyone in the eye." Something comes back across the connection, dealing him serious damage. Not Eliard responds: "Omega."
